On January 2020, we got an incident which challenged our moderation a posteriori. We decided to switched to a model of a priori moderation for anonymous issues.

  1. When an issue is filed anonymously, it is automatically processed on two repos by webcompat-bot
    • the public repo gets a placeholder message inviting to wait and a label action-needsmoderation
    • the private repo gets the full issue text and the origin uri where it was published with a milestone unmoderated
  2. The reviewer looking at the issues in the private repo has two possibilities:
    • The issue is considered acceptable. The reviewer gives the milestone accepted. The webcompat-bot publishes the issue content in public removing the previous moderation message. The reviewer may want to close the issue at this point.
    • The issue is considered not acceptable. The reviewer closes the issue. webcompat-bot will replace the previous moderation message on the public side by a message saying the issue has been not accepted.
