Terms of use

Data Science for Ecologists and Environmental Scientists (hereafter, "the Course") is developed by Our Coding Club ("we", "our", "us"), a group of students and staff from the University of Edinburgh. The Course is funded through an Online Learning grant from the Data Lab, a Scottish Innovation Centre administered by the University of Edinburgh. The Course is hosted on our online platform [www.ourcodingclub.github.io]({{ site.baseurl }}) ("our Website").

The use of our Course and Website is subject to the following terms of use:

  1. The tutorials that make up the Course are accessible free of charge and made available under a Creative Commons 4.0 International License.
  2. Signing up for the course through our registration system enables you to access further content such as quizzes, and to request certification. Sign up and certification are also free of charge.
  3. By registering for the Course, you agree to provide us with your name and email address. In accordance with our [Data Privacy policy]({{ site.baseurl }}/privacy), we will never use this information or any further information associated with you and generated as part of the Course (e.g. test scores) for commercial use by third parties.
  4. If you agree, we will collect data including contry, gender and age through your IP address or through our voluntary feedback forms to understand the reach of our platform and to share with our funders.
  5. The content of the Website and of the Course pages, tutorials, quizzes and challenges is subject to change without notice, and we are not liable for any inconvenience this may cause.
  6. Neither we nor the University of Edinburgh provide any warranty or guarantee as to the accuracy, timeliness, performance, completeness or suitability of the information and materials found on this Website. You acknowledge that such information and materials may contain inaccuracies or errors or become obsolete, and we expressly exclude liability for any such inaccuracies or errors to the fullest extent permitted by law.
