Hi,

I have a AMD VEGA 56 based graphics card that once did work with FreeBSD.
Since a while it stopped working unfortunately :(

I get a black screen after loading amdgpu via rc.conf, kld_list="amdgpu".
And the fans stop after 2 seconds. And the machine is halted.

I am on FreeBSD 12.1, the latest version via freebsd-update.
I installed drm_kmod via pkg install.

Any ideas?

Many thanx and
Best regards
Andreas

You couldn't install from pkg on 12.1 for a while, had to build from ports (or from here). I guess that's still the case.

Packages should be built on 12.1 these days, but it might be worth trying to reinstall drm-fbsd12.0-kmod to get a version that is actually built on 12.1.

So should I build now from src ports? Or installing drm-fbsd12.0-kmod from ports via "pkg drm-fbsd12.0-kmod"? I am pretty sure the latter was done by "pkg install drm_kmod".

BTW: I did reinstall "drm-kmod" just before plugging the graphics card into the computer.

Hi I installed "drm-fbsd12.0-kmod" from current ports a few minutes ago. No change. Display gets black and computer halts. :(
